Gothic Doctor – A card game that makes House look mild
Gothic Doctor – it is a name that reminds me – for some reason – of the series – House – but with a definite twist. So I wanted to blog about this new kickstarter – which would be in the category of custom card games – and I asked Doug – one of the inventors – to tell me some cool things that are NOT on kicktarter.So here are some fun facts about Gothic Doctor that aren’t on the website:– Doug had a dream that his father, who’s a doctor, was asking for pliers to pull out Dracula’s teeth – and that’s when the idea for the game was born (that’s on the website, but that’s important)
– Doug immediately called John, one of his best friends in the whole world, because John loves games and doing awesome things; they frantically brainstormed ideas for a few weeks and then started trimming it down.– John did all of the layout and design of the cards himself; he also shot and edited their very cool Kickstarter video in 48 hours– Even though it just launched recently – they have been working on it since November of last year
-They added Action cards in January to make the game more interactive and add a strategic element to it
– Their artist, Jeff Drylewicz, is a friend of Doug’s brother-in-law and knew the two would click, so he commissioned two pieces: Mr. Hyde and the Mad Scientist; the Mr. Hyde image is exactly the one that is on the card; not a single change was necessary
– They found Ad Magic through a recommendation from Elaine Short and Max Temkin of Cards Against Humanity fame during “office hours” with the two of them and Luke Crane, head of Games on Kickstarter.

– this is their first game, but they are already brainstorming ideas for their next one – but they aren’t ready to give anything away just yet
This looks like a great game to me and I am very excited to print it. It has a full bleed and really excellent graphic images. I cannot tell you about all the other cool stuff they have planned – but I am looking forward to pulling it all together and creating a really great game.
