Printing customized cards we cant talk about
So one cool thing about the job is printing customized playing cards for celebrities. The uncool thing is that we cannot talk about it for a long time because either we have to wait for permission or we have to wait until the cards are given out. This week we did cards for a major celebrity – of course I do not get to actually speak to the celebrities themselves – usually just their personal assistants. This one was from Hollywood and it was a super rush order and it made me feel very important for about 48 hours. I will be able to talk about it in detail and show photos of the decks and cases we did at that time – but for now I can only describe the circumstances.
I got a call late – all the calls from California are late when you are based in New Jersey. When the client gave me their email address to send the pricing options – I recognized the web address as that of the production company of one of my favorite actors. One of my all time favorites – so I knew right away who it was for. Basically they needed 350 sets of custom playing cards in lovely 2 deck leather cases. The cases were debossed with the name of the production and the decks themselves were made up of old classic Hollywood art which I was allowed to layout as I chose. The art was truly wonderful and I was honored to be working with it. I laid out the faces and backs for both decks and had the whole thing done in about 48 hours. The call came in on the 14th and the entire job was delivered on the 21st. The decks were proofed – printed and the cases embossed and shipped within 5 business days. Even for us this was an extreme rush.
I can’t brag about it for a while – but it feels good to be able to talk about it – and in a few weeks I will be able to tell you – my readers – who the job was for and show you pictures of the incredible coup we pulled off in record time. For now – it is just something I get to reminisce about.
